Battery Equalizers and converters maintain battery balance or "equalization" in predominately 24V systems that require 12 V power. These units can deliver up to 100 amps of continuous 12V current for practically any 12V load ranging from fare boxes, destination boards, two way radios, and transmission controls to engine controls, lighting, heating and air conditioning.

The DC power requirements for transit bus applications today are very different than they were only 10 years ago so we must reevaluate and change how we power these vehicles. Transit batteries were originally designed to only start the engine while todays buses are burdened with 12V loads that in many cases continue to operate while the engine is off, this means engine starting batteries are now being cycled while supplying power to these off key loads and traditional starting batteries are failing under this type of use. This requires traditional starting batteries to be upgraded to hybrid or deep cycle batteries that will withstand continuous cycling and in some cases the addition of auxiliary battery banks that will supply the off key loads while ensuring the main batteries are preserved to start the engine.
