The main goal of the system is to integrate renewable energy at Keele campus. Next this project aims to be off-grid and implement a smart Micro-Grid. At the moment, the REM project’s aim is to implement batteries to supply the energy for backup for the lighting systems at the Vanier parking lot and/or the chargers for the electric vehicles. The system itself is going to help the research on electric mobility, the integration of renewable energy and micro-grids. The REM project focuses on gathering performance and demand data to help the university craft a broader electric vehicle strategy that is accessible, affordable and that uses local renewable energy resources to offset the electrical demand of innovative mobility solutions.
